Seymour High School will be hosting a local job/career fair Tuesday, Feb. 11th from 10:30 - 2. (Snow date is Thurs., Feb. 13th.) This is a community partnership opportunity wherein local employers help students along their career path and create valuable connections in the process.
With great feedback, our event includes all 9th - 12th grade students. The general public is also invited to attend.
Our students are setting career goals and preparing themselves to be able to achieve those goals. There are many pieces to that puzzle:
-
Knowing the jobs/careers available.
-
Understanding employer expectations.
-
Developing a personal career plan.
-
Obtaining the necessary education and training.
-
Making connections.
-
Getting valuable work experience now.
Please consider how your business can connect with students and help clarify their long-term career goals as well as make good short-term decisions to be career ready. Also this year, a representative from our Youth Apprenticeship program will be on-hand for both students and businesses. Youth Apprenticeship helps employers develop a qualified and committed talent pipeline by bringing students in to work as juniors and/or seniors.
Having an 8’ x 10’ booth at the event costs $100 to cover costs and can be reserved online at https://www.seymour.k12.wi.us/schools/high/thunder-area-job-fair.cfm or by sending your check to Seymour High School, 10 Circle Dr., Seymour, WI 54165 Attn: Staci Sievert. Reservation deadline is Friday, Jan. 17th. (Double booths are 8’ x 20’ and cost $150.) With your check, please either include the completed registration form (attached) or send your responses to the following questions:
-
Do you need electricity at your booth?
-
For our lunch count, how many people will be working your booth?
-
What careers are available with your company? As we have students representing all interests and career paths, please consider all areas of your company. We would like to provide students with a listing. For example, an employer may primarily hire machinists, nurses or welders yet also have accounting, marketing, IT, human resources, computer aided design, etc. Making students aware that many companies encompass a variety of areas is helpful.
Vendor set-up time on Tuesday, Feb 13th (snow date Thursday, Feb. 15th) is 9-10:30. Lunch will be provided at 10 a.m. You will have a skirted table and folding chairs. The event runs from 10:30 to 2 p.m. and you can expect approximately 600 students in attendance from all career interest areas as well as some community members.
We appreciate your partnership as a community member working to help students along this journey.
Thank you! We look forward to a great event!
